The MS Horseride is a unique and very special week long camping and riding holiday for you to share with your four legged friend and a temporary community of other horse lovers.
Now in its 14th year the MS Horseride is staged to support people with multiple sclerosis. The event is a chance for you and your four legged friend to spend a week together riding on private property not normally open to the public in the Upper Hunter Valley.
The ride brings around 250 horse lovers together from all over the country. The days are spent riding and the nights are spent socialising and making new friends etc.....
The Ride
The event is an eight-day adventure holiday for up to 250 people and their horses. The first day is spent vet checking the horses and setting camp. Participants then ride for three days, have a rest day and then ride a further three days. Each day's ride is between 20-30km on fully supported and well marked trails and there is usually also an option for one or two longer rides. The routes are chosen for their scenic attraction and are mainly on private properties not normally open to the public.
What’s included
Your entry fee includes all meals for the week, feed and water for your horse (Mitavite Xtra-Cool and hay), veterinary support, farrier support, first aid, route marshals, rouseabout crew, entertainment program, excellent shower and toilet facilities etc. We will stay at two campsites during the week and you have the choice of keeping your horse in our free communal paddock or booking one of our steel yards.
When you’re not in the saddle
Relax in our licensed bar or enjoy complimentary tea and coffee in our marquee. Entertainment includes live music, trivia, horse related demonstrations and our much loved Talent in The tent on Wednesday night. On the Wednesday Rest Day tours to a local thoroughbred stud and a winery will be available as well as a shuttle bus into nearby Cassilis.
Who comes on the ride?
Participants range from 10 -70 years old and are mainly drawn from NSW and ACT though we also have people travelling from VIC, SA and QLD. There is a good mix of people in terms of backgrounds and city/country. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Why does MS Australia ACT/VIC/NSW do this?
We stage this event to help fund our work providing support and services to over 20,000 people with MS, their families and carers in Australia. Participants are encouraged to fundraise and last year raised over $100,000 which was an amazing result.
Giddy up and register as places are limited! Don’t miss out!
